Wigley Engineering, a leading manufacturer of metal components and high end 4wd trays, canopies and accessories, is looking for a skilled and dedicated Brake Press Operator to join our dynamic team. As a Brake Press Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating our multiple Bystronic and Durma brake press machines to shape and form metal components for some of the largest companies in Australia, as well as our high quality 4wd trays, canopies and accessories, with precision and efficiency.
Role Description
This is a full-time casual, on-site role for a Press Operator at WIGLEY ENGINEERING PTY LTD in Dandenong, VIC, With the potential to move to full time. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following
- Brake Press machine operation
- Read and interpret shop drawings
- Ability to create programs at the machine
- Ability to perform QA checks, measure in-process and completed parts
- Participate in testing and introduction of any new processes or technology
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of pressing experience
- Competent operation of Durma and/or Bystronic Press machines
- Current Forklift licence, desired
- Machine Operation and Troubleshooting skills
- Quality Control skills
- Experience in pre-press activities
- Ability to work efficiently and maintain high-quality standards
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication skills and teamwork
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus

We’re looking for a passionate Junior to Mid-Level CAD Designer (Industrial Designer or Junior Engineer) to join our growing team and play a key role in developing high-performance products used by adventurers and professionals across the country. This is a hands-on, collaborative role where you’ll bring designs to life. From concept development through to fabrication, working closely with our engineering, fabrication, and production teams. What You’ll Be Doing:
• Design & Technical Drawings for Manufacture – Create detailed designs and manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
• Product Development – Design and refine components for our industry-leading 4WD trays, canopies, and accessories, ensuring they meet high standards of functionality and durability.
• Prototyping & Fabrication Collaboration – Work closely with our fabrication and machining teams to ensure designs are production-ready and optimised for manufacturing.
• Design for Manufacture & Assembly – Apply practical design principles to create efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality products.
• Quality Control & Problem-Solving – Assist in refining designs based on real-world testing and production feedback, ensuring the highest level of quality and performance.
What we’re Looking For:
• Industrial Design or Engineering background – Relevant qualifications or hands-on experience in design for sheet metal manufacturing.
• Proficiency in CAD software – Experience with Autodesk Inventor is highly desirable, but other CAD experience will be considered, SolidWorks or similar.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes – Knowledge of fabrication, welding, break press, laser cutting and assembly techniques.
• Attention to detail & problem-solving mindset – A keen eye for precision and a proactive approach to improving designs.
• Strong communication & teamwork skills – Ability to collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and production staff.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment (bonus) – Previous exposure to workshop or production settings is a plus.

- Perform MIG welding on mild steel components to precise specifications.
- Operate our robot welder.
- Measure and inspect finished work to ensure it meets required tolerances and quality standards.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet production deadlines.
- Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and report any faults.
- Proven experience in Mild steel MIG welding.
- Strong knowledge of steel fabrication techniques and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and fabrication blueprints.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to tight tolerances.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Relevant welding/fabrication qualifications or certifications preferred.
- Forklift license required
- Experience in a manufacturing or engineering workshop environment.
- Other relevant workshop certifications.
We are currently seeking a motivated and reliable Labourer to join our team. This hands-on role will involve general labouring duties including sorting materials, packing components, and assisting with workshop operations. The successful candidate will play an important part in ensuring our workshop runs smoothly and efficiently.
